Art Basel Miami Beach: December’s Most Artful Event
Christine attended Art Basel Miami Beach this year, and attended most of the adjoining art fairs, as well. The weather was sensational—a tropical 85 degrees every day through midnight—and lasting all through the night for those who never left the parties! The art at the Convention Center was stellar, as were select pieces from PULSE Contemporary Art Fair further down the road. She also attended Design Miami, on site near the Convention Center, and heard Jeanne Gang speak about her architecture projects. Merry Norris and Christine made it to the groundbreaking for Zaha Hadid’s new high-luxe residential tower, One Thousand Museum, and stayed to hear her remarks about this highly artful new project. Christine shares that Miami is looking superb from the beautiful hotels (the Ritz Carlton South Beach in particular was gorgeous and featured live choreography on the pool deck), to the beautifully renovated Fontainebleau Miami Beach, to the new exciting urban developments along the waterfront.
She enjoyed cruising the popular Lincoln Road near the fair, and the charming illuminated Espanola Way. Miami has a serious hold on nightlife with music literally everywhere. L.A. could take a lesson or two on celebrating our great cultural scene with a little more fun and flair.
