CA+D had a great time ogling the fashion-forward and fashion-past outfits on these Reigning Men at LACMA this weekend.

Reigning Men: Fashion in Menswear, 1715–2015 explores the history of men’s fashionable dress from the eighteenth century to the present and re-examines the all-too-frequent equation of “fashion” with “femininity.” Fashion by noted designers, including Jean Paul Gaultier, Rudi Gernreich, and Vivienne Westwood, juxtaposed with ornate, brocade-laden Louis XIV courtroom dress, Victorian garb with towering beaver-fur top hats and turn-of-the-century business suits and button-down vests replete with de rigueur black bowlers.

On view until August 21st. Don’t miss it!
